Stephen & Heron Ltd of Stallingborough supplies complex welded fabrications to the chemical and petrochemical industries.

Their team of expert welders work in alloy and stainless steels, nickel alloys and aluminium. The complete fabrications, in addition to being subject to non-destructive testing by radiography or other techniques, often require stress reliving or annealing to British Standard or ASME specification.

Previously, all work was sent to contractors for heat treatment - an expensive and time consuming procedure. Since an Excel Heat electric furnace was installed, heat treatment can now be carried out on the premises.

Production delays have been virtually eliminated and costs have been reduced to such an extent that the capital will be recovered in two years.
