The Mannings finger elements are well established pre and postweld heaters, suitable to be powered from ac/dc welding machines. Ruggedly constructed, the heaters require minimal maintenance and are capable of withstanding considerable on-site maltreatment. The element consists of two solid drawn 9swg nickel chrome element wires threaded through sintered alumina beads providing electrical insulation combined with a high heat transfer capability. Standard element maximum working temperature is 1050oC, each finger being rated at 120 amps at 1.3 volts. For heat treatment of stainless steel, special solid drawn Kanthal wire is required to give a maximum operating temperature of 1250oC. Steel connector blocks or camlock connectors are used for end terminations. PLEASE NOTE: The last two digits of the stock number identifies the size (number of fingers) on each element i.e. using a 36 finger element would be identified by the stock number 32036.In the event of accidental damage the element can be repaired on site with the help of a Finger Element Repair Kit, or returned to Mannings for repair and test.Finger elements have been manufactured by Mannings since 1958 and have been well tested and proven over the years. Used extensively on refineries, power stations, construction sites and pipelines all over the world, they are a simple and effective method of pre-heating and stress relieving pipework without the use of sophisticated or complicated controls.Use your own welding machines as a power source. ac or dc machines make no difference. All that is required is a Tong Ammeter to monitor current to the elements - not more than 120 amps per element. If no record is needed - Tempilstik crayons will indicate when job temperature is reached for pre-heat.If a record is required - add thermocouples and a recorder. Rate of rise and cooling is easily accomplished by turning welding machine current up or down - (caution:- when elements are connected - switch off welding machine when changing current settings). If using Mannings Heat Treatment units - size of finger elements is restricted to 46 fingers only. Please see section below for stock numbers & description.
